WARA IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION |
Expectations for volunteers:
Volunteers must have or obtain some basic certification in the first year;
Since your safety and the safety of your crew mates depends on a well-trained team, volunteers must also be prepared to participate and commit to training. That means;
We've adopted a well known credo; “FAILURE TO TRAIN IS TRAINING TO FAIL!”
In addition, volunteers are expected to participate in Wellington Rescue community events and activities. These would include such public relations events as Canada Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Pumpkinfest. Volunteers are expected to help in fundraising activities if required. Since volunteers are members of Wellington Auxiliary Rescue Association (WARA), a non-profit corporation and registered charity, they are expected to attend ALL official meetings of the organization. AND, YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN UNIFORM! It looks like a lot doesn't it? You’ll find it won’t take more than the optimal one to two hours a week. And, you’ll get to know and work with friendly, dedicated people in addition to making a real contribution to safer boating. Perhaps you’ll save a life. What are you waiting for? Inquire Now! |
